Thumb's Musical Kids is a class where you will have fun and make new friends while learning to perform songs! Students will learn voice health, basic theory, performance techniques and ear training. This is a class that will teach music with movement/choreography. We will learn theater terms and performance techniques. This is not an acting class but rather a class to teach performance and the art of communicating songs as a group with your whole self. (Whole body, facial expression and vocal inflection).
There will be times of exploration of space, self and others to discover a deeper level of awareness through theater games. We will be learning a variety of songs to perform where some small solos may be offered. We will be learning to have fun together and grow our skills as musicians and performers.
Bring a notebook, a recording device (if you have one available) and a water bottle. Every week we will play a game, warm up our voices together, learn to breathe correctly, discover how to identify and sing in our chest and head voices, ear train, work on some techniques and learn stage presence basics. We will be learning to be active and expressive on stage, and we will be learning a variety of songs. We will also learn what it means to be a good audience.
On the last day of class, May 12, there will be a performance for our friends and families. Please mark this date on your calendar.
